Mr. Snook brings 25 years of commercial real estate, underwriting, and lending experience to Menlo Equities. He joined the organization in 2010 and is responsible for acquisitions of commercial properties in northern Los Angeles County and for portfolio management of Menlo Equities’ Collateralized Mortgage Obligation (CMO) portfolio.
During his lending career, Mr. Snook directly supervised the origination and underwriting of over $4 billion of commercial mortgages on the west coast. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President at Union Bank, where he established and subsequently ran the bank’s Commercial Mortgage Division. His responsibilities included the asset management of $3.2 billion in income and owner-occupied mortgages. Mr. Snook created and implemented core risk management policies, procedures, loan products, and portfolio management reporting. He also supervised the development of a $1 million Oracle database platform implemented bank-wide for commercial real estate mortgages.
Prior to Union Bank, Mr. Snook worked at Bank of America as Vice President and National Sales Manager, where he cofounded Bank of America’s commercial mortgage program. At Bank of America, he also served as Vice President and Regional Manager for a $1 billion portfolio of nonperforming commercial real estate loans during the real estate recession of the early 1990s. Prior to Bank of America, Mr. Snook was at Wells Fargo Bank as both a construction lender and co-manager of the bank’s wholesale credit training program. Mr. Snook’s experience also includes investment management at Sanford Bernstein and Company and public accounting.
Mr. Snook holds an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BA from the University of Michigan. Mr. Snook was a cofounder of the Professional Advisory Council of the Peninsula Community Foundation (now the Silicon Valley Community Foundation).
