Mr. Johnston is responsible for acquisition and asset management efforts relating to Menlo Equities’ Northern California portfolio. Mr. Johnston works closely with Menlo’s managing principals in all aspects of operating and expanding the Northern California portfolio, including investment selection, financings, leasing, and dispositions.
Since joining Menlo Equities in 2007, Mr. Johnston has been involved in the acquisition of more than 1.8 million square feet of office, R&D, and industrial product in California totaling more than $400 million in value and debt financings exceeding $550 million. He also played an active role in the launch of Menlo’s mortgage-backed securities investment platform, Menlo Asset-Backed Partners LLC, and the formation of Menlo’s two most recent proprietary investment funds, Menlo Realty Partners III LP and Menlo Realty Partners IV LP.
Mr. Johnston holds a BA in Sociology and Business Institutions from Northwestern University. He is a board member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) Silicon Valley, an active volunteer in the UrbanPlan Program, and a member of the Young Leaders Group of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
