In Memoriam: Henry Bullock

Henry Bullock lived his life to the fullest and brought incredible wisdom, energy, and passion to all his endeavors. His active thought leadership helped shape Menlo Equities, its employees, and the greater business community.

Henry graduated cum laude from Muskingum University, where he received a BA in Philosophy and Economics and served as a trustee until his passing. He also received a doctorate in humane letters from Muskingum and delivered the commencement speech to the graduating class of 2016. Henry received his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Prior to founding Menlo Equities, Henry was a Managing Partner at The Shidler Group, where he arranged and directed debt and equity financings exceeding $1 billion, including the initial public offerings of First Industrial Realty Trust (NYSE: FR) and TriNet Corporate Realty Trust (acquired by iStar Financial, NYSE: STAR). He was responsible for the acquisition of over 2 million square feet of property, which was contributed to First Industrial at its initial public offering. Henry also supervised underwriting and liability management activity for The Shidler Group’s United States private holdings, which was approximately 20 million square feet.

In 1994, Henry and Rick Holmstrom founded Menlo Equities with a focused investment strategy targeting office properties located in the most robust innovation hub markets. As the firm’s portfolio expanded significantly, Menlo’s core values did not waiver. While financial acumen and understanding of real estate are mission critical, Henry also believed that building enduring relationships with tenants and the real estate community were equally important.

Henry worked tirelessly to build Menlo Equities into one of the leading commercial real estate investment firms in the United States and set an example for all to follow through his integrity, dedication, and passion to excel.
